Justin Bieber And His Bodyguards In New Documentary

Justin Bieber‘s security director Mikey Arana is spilling on some of the wildest experiences the two have been through together!

The “Love Yourself” singer recently revealed that his fans have calmed down a bit as he’s gotten older, but Mikey says girls used to rip his shirt off all the time!

In Bodyguards: Secret Lives from the Watchtower, an upcoming documentary about the work of the people who protect well-known public figures, Justin’s security team discusses how they have helped Justin have his own space and sanity among the uncontrollable crowds that constantly surround him and explain how the fans have been changing as they get older.

“As fans have grown, they’re more likely to engage [Justin] in a conversation than to grab him and literally rip him apart,” Mikey says in a clip from the new documentary.

“I remember when I first started with him – it may sound crazy, but three, four [emotional] little girls – they have so much strength that they would literally rip his shirt, take off his hoodie,” he went on. “And if it’s a big crowd, you could lose him in the crowd … But as the fans have grown with him, so has their approach to be able to just come up to him and go, ‘Hey Justin, how are you?’ and engage in conversation.”

“I think we started realizing we needed security when thousands of people started showing up at radio stations,” Justin‘s manager Scooter Braun added. “Then we went to Australia, and we told the Australians at this Sunrise TV show that we were going to need more security, and they didn’t believe us, and then the kids rioted the streets.”

“Having security creates space for me, it creates boundaries, it creates a safe place for me,” Justin admits. “As the fans get older and are knowing themselves more, they start understanding how to act and they actually want to act a little bit more sane so that maybe they get my attention because at this point they’re screaming and super overwhelming, it’s hard for me to connect with you.”
